About

Who is behind this blog?

I’m a 30-something German who loves to learn about all things Korean ever since 2015.

I’ve been learning the language for over ten years now and enjoy staying up to date with political and social developments. With this blog, I want to push myself to dive deep into complex issues to prevent you and me from hasty conclusions based on stereotypes and Western preconceptions.

How does this blog work?

I’m still learning, and this blog is how I want to take my studies on a new level. But I also think it’s more fun to learn if there is a personal touch to it. Therefore this blog will combine both research and my personal opinions and experiences.

“Research” is meant in the widest sense – from academic papers and newspaper articles to personal anecdotes. I will try to make my sources transparent by linking to them in each article.

Occasionally I will also write more relaxed, personal posts in which I focus on my own experiences and feelings related to Korea.

Any last words?

I don’t let AI write any blog articles for me. I myself am really tired of blogs now all sounding like Chat-GPT slop. If I use AI, it is only to smooth out mistakes and awkward sentences as I am not a native English speaker.
